This week, we’ve been exploring recycling and caring for our environment here at preschool! 💚 From litter-picking walks in our local community to recycling activities within the room, the children have been learning all about the little things we can do to make a BIG difference. 🌱🐾
We were also very lucky to welcome Amanda and Phoebe from Medway Council, who oversee recycling in our local area. They came to talk to the children about why recycling is so important and how it helps to keep our 🌍 Earth and 🐾 animals safe.
We were amazed to learn that the rubbish thrown away by an average household in Medway each year weighs as much as a rhinoceros! 🦏😲
Together, we explored what goes where:
🟤 Brown bin: Food waste
🔵 Blue bag: Cardboard and paper
⚪ White bag: Plastic, tins and glass
⚫ Black bin: Anything else that cannot be recycled in the other collections
The children then took part in a special sorting game, working together to decide which rubbish belonged in each bag or bin. We had lots of fun learning through play and developing our understanding of how we can all help protect our planet! ♻️👏 Every little action counts!🌍🌱
