A little about our preschool
PCF Pre-School is a well established childcare setting in Parkwood. The Pre-School has been part of the community since May 1969.
Why our preschool
The Pre-school works to the legislation governing the Early Years sector, The Childrens Act 1989/2004; Childcare Act 2006; Safeguarding Vulnerable Groups Act 2006; The Special Educational Needs and Disability Code of Practice 2014; The Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) (2012 and 2014) and The Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS).
The benefits of preschool
Early Learning
Preschools provide children with a foundation for early learning and development. They offer a variety of activities that are designed to engage and stimulate young minds, such as story time, arts and crafts, and interactive games. These activities help children to learn important skills, such as problem-solving, critical thinking, and creativity. In addition, preschools often focus on teaching children basic academic concepts, such as numbers, letters, and shapes, which will be important for their success in school.
Socialisation & interaction
Preschools also provide children with the opportunity to socialise and interact with other children their age. This is an important aspect of child development, as it helps children to learn how to communicate, share, and work together. Children in preschools also learn how to take turns, follow rules, and respect others. This early exposure to socialisation and interaction will help children to build strong relationships with others, which is important for their overall well-being.
Emotional development
Preschools also help children to develop emotionally and behaviourally. They provide children with a safe and nurturing environment where they can express themselves and learn how to manage their emotions. Preschools also teach children how to be independent and take care of themselves. This includes learning how to dress themselves, use the bathroom, and eat without assistance. All of these skills will help children to be more self-sufficient and confident as they grow older.
Parental & caregiver involvement
Finally, preschools often involve parents and caregivers in the child’s learning experience. They provide opportunities for parents to participate in their child’s education, such as parent-teacher conferences, volunteer opportunities and curriculum night. This helps parents to stay informed about their child’s progress and be more involved in their child’s education. It also allows parents to develop a better understanding of the curriculum and teaching methods used in preschools, which can be beneficial for their child’s future education.
